A Des Moines woman won’t be charged in the stabbing death of her boyfriend because police say she was protecting herself and her children.

Des Moines police say 25-year-old Tyshar Keamber Mosley won’t face any charges in the death of 34-year-old Amyn DeWayne Brown. Police were called to the couple’s apartment at 1908 7th Street early Thursday morning. When they arrived they found Brown dead.

Mosley was named as a person of interest in the case and questioned. Police now say Mosley was protecting herself, and her two children, when she stabbed Brown during a physical altercation.
