Des Moines Parks and Recreation wants to honor a Des Moines woman who was murdered two years ago.

Realtor Ashley Okland was shot and killed in a model town home in 2011.  The case remains unsolved, but police say they’re actively working to find a suspect.

The Des Moines parks board wants the public’s input on naming a new playground at Ewing Park after Okland.

The playground will be funded and built by the groups Young Variety and Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa.

It will be specifically designed for children with special needs.
