Ames Police have stepped up enforcement as Iowa State University kicks off the Fall Semester.

Now through the end of the month, the department will focus its efforts on catching drunk drivers, seat belt violators and speeders.

But officers will also be on the lookout for alcohol violations including possession of alcohol under the legal age and public intoxication.

Police are encouraging everyone to designate a sober driver to have a safe start to the semester.
