SCHOOL GUN: Probation For Johnston Father
A Johnston man has taken a plea deal after his son brought a gun to school last spring.
Johnston police say 31-year-old Louis Friestad’s eight-year-old son took a loaded handgun to Lawson Elementary School in May. A school employee took the gun before anyone was hurt.
Court records show Friestad pleaded guilty to two charges: child endangerment and making a gun available to a person under the age of 21.
In return, three other charges were dropped. He received a three year prison sentence, which was suspended. He’ll be on parole for three years.
That means as long as he stays out of trouble he won’t serve any time behind bars.
