Eight Iowa beaches will be off limits to swimmers at state parks this weekend.

The DNR says it was forced to shut them down after water tests revealed high bacteria levels.

The list includes Backbone, Union Grove, McIntosh Woods, Prairie Rose, Viking Lake, Denison Beach and Geode Beach.

Signs are posted at each park warning swimmers.
