MOVING DAY: President Helps UNI Students
It was a hot day to do heavy lifting, fortunately University of Northern Iowa students got an extra hand moving into their dorms.
It was the first day back moving into residence halls and some got help from the school’s president.
Dr. William Ruud rolled up his sleeves and helped students get settled into their rooms.
Ruud says it was about helping and teaching a lesson.
“I think students need to know we care about their success,” Ruud said.
“One of the ways we can do it is come out and help them — I mean, roll up your sleeves. Part of leadership is not telling people what to do — it’s helping people get to their goal.”
Ruud took over as president of UNI at the end of May.
