OVERNIGHT FIRE: Grinnell Business Damaged

Generic Fire

A Grinnell company caught fire overnight.

It happened at the Grinnell Implement Store on Sixth Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. Friday.

Investigators say it started in a storage shed where several oil cans and propane tanks were stored. Several of the canisters exploded during the fire.

Damage is estimated at $500,000.

No one was injured and investigators are still looking for the cause.

The store is still open for business.
