With 100-degree heat indices, repair companies are working overtime in the metro trying to keep up with demand.

After four days of abuse, air conditioners are struggling to keep up and some are simply giving up.

At a metro home, workers discovered a broken capacitor inside the air conditioner. The repair was relatively minor and it only took a short time to get the AC back on.

Workers also say it’s the most common repair they’re making.

“With the capacitors it’s probably three out of five [repairs],” says Brett Flinck. “But then some are low on refrigerant and stuff like that, but the capacitor towards the end of summer is the most common one.”

Workers say replacing dirty furnace filters will also help your air conditioner run more efficiently in the hot weather.
