The city of Des Moines’ third dog park, which is named for a Des Moines police dog, is being dedicated Wednesday night.

Reno was shot in 2004 while trying to protect his partner Officer Tim Nading. The dog survived the shooting but passed away last year.

The dedication ceremony for the Reno Memorial Dog Park is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. The park is located at 3533 East Douglas Avenue.

For Wednesday night only, all licensed Des Moines dogs can get into the park for free without a permit.
