TWO INJURED: Driver Rear Ends Deputy’s Car

Two people, including a Clayton County Sheriff’s Deputy, were injured in a crash Tuesday night.

Authorities say the incident happened around 10:15 p.m. on Highway 18 between Postville and Monona. Twenty-seven-year-old Deputy Craig Johnson had pulled over a pick-up truck and during the stop, his vehicle was rear-ended.

Officials say the driver of the vehicle, 84-year-old Mary Svendsen, had been traveling on the shoulder, but at highway speeds when the accident happened.

Deputy Johnson and Svendsen were taken to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
