An Ankeny girl is getting a big honor at this weekend’s Hawkeye Football game.
Thirteen-year-old Michaela Inman is serving as Kid Captain when the Hawkeyes play Missouri State on Saturday.
When Inman was 11 years old, she was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of childhood bone cancer.
After multiple rounds of chemotherapy and surgery, Inman is now a high school freshman and 10 months cancer-free.
The Kid Captain program is in its fifth year of partnering with the UI Children’s Hospital and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
More information about Michaela’s story is available here.
