TUBERCULOSIS CASE: ISU Student Tests Positive
Public health officials are looking into a tuberculosis case on the Iowa State University campus.
A university spokesperson says an international student has been diagnosed with the disease.
Doctors at the university`s Thielen Student Health Center made the diagnosis after a routine screening required of all incoming international students. The student lives on campus and is being treated but will remain isolated from the university community until public health officials clear the student to return to class.
Public health officials will contact anyone the individual had close and prolonged contact with to be screened.
Students and employees who are not contacted by public health officials do not need to be screened.
