Around 75 volunteers battled the heat for a good cause Monday.
Habitat for Humanity put the walls up for three new homes being built side-by-side near the State Fairgrounds in east Des Moines.
Organizers had plenty of liquid on hand to keep workers hydrated in the 100-degree heat.
“This is a great opportunity to give back and be with each other. Sharing a little sweat on a day like this is always a good thing,” says Jerry Redmond. “We are looking forward to going home to the shower afterwards.”
The three homes are part of the 27 Habitat builds in the metro area this year.
