Flags will fly at half-staff across the state Wednesday in honor of those who died in the September 11th terrorist attacks.

The governor has issued the order from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday, there’s an effort going on at Des Moines’ Gray’s Lake to create a “tribute trail” for 9/11.

Des Moines Parks and Rec is partnering with Clear Channel and the U.S. Air Force to place more than 3,000 individual flags, 10 feet off the trail on the west side of the lake, near Fleur Drive.

Each flag represents the lives of each person lost on that day.

The flags will be in place until Monday.
