Bad light forced rescuers to call off the search for a missing man on Saylorville Lake, Tuesday night

Authorities were called to the lake at around 5:25 p.m. on reports of a man jumping off a boat and failing to resurface.

Several rescue boats including a dive team searched the area near the Cherry Glen Boat Ramp through the evening.

“We’ll search in to the night as long as the light allows and as long as it’s safe to continue the search and hopefully we’ll be able to locate the subject as soon as possible,” Sgt. Brent Long said Tuesday evening before the search was called off for the night.

Authorities targeted their search near to where the man was last seen. They haven’t released his name.

Authorities said they will resume the search Wednesday morning for the man.
