The metro is seeing record housing sales for the month of August.

Sandra Mrachina admits, deciding to sell her Pleasant Hill home was stressful, until she saw the feeding frenzy of buyers.

Mrachina sold her home in just seven days and got 96-percent of her asking price.

According to the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors, metro homes are selling at a record pace, 20-percent faster than they were just one year ago.  Realtors say it has quickly become a sellers market.

"Supply and demand." says Bob Eisenlauer of Remax Real Estate, "A couple years ago you had five times the sellers than you did buyers. Today you've got just as many if not more buyers in the market than you do sellers so people are almost fighting over houses right now."

Over 4,000 homes were sold in the metro in the past four months.
