The city of West Des Moines will begin work on a new archery facility this fall.

It will be located at Raccoon River Park.

Officials say this archery facility will be the first of its kind in Iowa and will be open to the public for use by the spring of 2014.

It will cost about $173,000 to build and is being paid for by the city, grants, and donations.

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for September 23rd at 4:00 p.m. at the park.
