The city of Newton is celebrating the completion of a three-year restoration project.

The result of the long-awaited project is the updated and renovated Fred Maytag Bowl.

The outdoor amphitheater and park where the bowl is located has long been a center piece of the town.

The bowl was built in 1936 by the Maytag family but over time had fallen victim to vandalism and disrepair.

Officials said that the bowl is now built to last, both inside and out.

The town uses the Maytag bowl and park for concerts.  But with the new renovations, city organizers said they hope to hold even more events.
