The man accused of killing a Rockwell City Police Officer Friday morning stood in a courtroom on Saturday.

Calhoun County Dispatch said 32-year-old Corey Trott was arraigned Saturday morning.  Trott was charged with first-degree murder and is in the Sac County Jail.

Officers said Trott shot and killed Officer Jamie Buenting.

Buenting was one of several officers trying to track down and arrest Trott.  Trott had been accused of assaulting his mother.

Investigators said Trott fired a single shot as Officer Buenting approached his house.

Buenting died at the hospital.

Other officers surrounded Trott’s home and following a three-hour stand-off, Trott finally gave up.
