Drivers on I-35 saw a solemn moment while driving Saturday night.

A motorcade left Des Moines and headed to Rockwell City to take Officer Jamie Buenting home.

Officer Buenting was shot and killed during a stand-off on Friday morning.

The motorcade was made up of police and fire department agencies.

Members of the Nevada Fire Department paid their respects by standing at attention and blocking intersections as his caravan passed.

“Line of duty deaths are unique situations in the emergency services.  It’s a time when everybody comes together and reflects on their shared values and this is certainly no exception to that,” said Fred Malven, Assistant Fire Chief for the Nevada Fire Department.

Funeral services take place next week for Officer Buenting.

His visitation will be on Monday at Palmer and Swank funeral home in Rockwell City.  His funeral will be on Tuesday at the South Central Calhoun Middle School.
