A former Channel 13 producer was just blocks away from a gunman who died after killing 12 people at the Washington Navy Yard Monday morning.
“I got to the metro station and saw two armed officers, as the day’s been going on I’ve become a little bit more aware of the significance and a little bit more nervous about what’s happening,” explained Allie Wright.
Wright is an Adel native interning in Washington D.C. this fall.
She usually walks the two miles home from work every night, but says under the circumstances she will be taking the train home Monday evening.
She says co-workers and friends are on edge waiting to see if any more arrests will follow the shooting.
