The couple admits they intentionally mislead a mortgage lender about their marital status.

The scheme resulted in them receiving a free house.

Bowers-Danielson also took part in a bank fraud scheme that involved a former Des Moines police officer and his wife.

Bobbi Jo Wojewoda was sentenced to 18 months in prison for her role in the scheme.

Her husband, former Des Moines police officer Wade Wojewoda, received probation.
