PAYBACK PLAN: If Thieves Not Caught, ISU Will Reimburse

Authorities say there are nine victims missing items after the Hawkeye’s locker room was targeted by thieves on Saturday in Ames.

The Iowa State University Police Department says the items were taken while the ISU and Iowa football teams were on the field. Police say cell phones and cash are missing.

Iowa State University released the following statement on the incident:

“It is an unfortunate situation, and unusual, in that the Jacobson Athletic Building has contracted security detail on site before, during and after games. The ISU Police and the athletics department responded quickly and thoroughly when alerted to the situation and have assured Iowa officials they are committed to seeking answers and improving security in this area.”

The theft remains under investigation.

Iowa State says if the suspects are not caught Iowa State Athletics will reimburse those who were victimized.
