Hundreds lined up to honor a fallen Rockwell City police officer, killed in the line of duty Friday.

Friends, family, fellow police officers, even complete strangers lined up to pay their respects to Officer Jamie Buenting and to thank him for his sacrifice.

Police say he and other officers were trying to arrest 32-year old Corey Trott on charges that Trott assaulted his own mother.  That's when police say Trott fired one shot from a high powered rifle, hitting Officer Buenting in the chest.

"He was the nicest person you'd ever meet." said Kyle Bellcock of Rockwell City,  "He'd do anything to help anybody out.  And just everybody in the community loved him."

Officer Bueting leaves behind a wife and two children.  Officer Buenting's funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at South Central Calhoun Middle School, 1000 W. Tonawanda Ave., Rockwell City.

He will be burried at Rosehill Cemetery.
