Flag removal is being done Monday at Gray’s Lake Park in Des Moines.

For the second year, volunteers set up the “Tribute Trail” at Gray’s Lake. More than 3,200 American flags lined the path around the lake near Fleur Drive.

Each flag represents a life lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001.

The flags were up for nearly a week for people to take pictures and remember the event twelve years ago.
