AGRIBUSINESS: House To Vote On Nutrition Wednesday
The House is expected to consider its nutrition bill tomorrow; the measure would cut $40 billion from nutrition programs over the next decade.
House Ag Committee Ranking Member Collin Peterson says the legislation will only make it harder to get a new farm bill passed this Congress. Peterson thinks it should be defeated, and even if it is, he thinks the debate would destroy any leftover good will needed to pass a final farm bill.
Peterson also says that the House and Senate Ag Committees could make strides toward a five year farm bill in conference, if the House GOP leadership would get out of their way
