Polk County will pay $100,000 to the family of a girl who was injured in 2009 when a sheriff’s deputy’s shotgun discharged.

The loaded shotgun was in a patrol car that was on display at Union Park.

A child crawling through the car caused the shotgun to fire.

A three-year old girl was injured by shrapnel.

The Polk County Board of Supervisors approved the settlement with her family, Tuesday.
