PROJECT DRIVE-IN: Public Can Save Newton Icon

Posted on: 5:52 pm, September 18, 2013, by

Central Iowa is fortunate to have one of the 368 remaining drive-in theaters in the nation. But we could soon lose the Valle Theater in Newton if it doesn’t receive a little assistance.

Soon, movie distributors will stop providing 35-millimeter film reels.

The Valle will need a costly digital upgrade in order to keep playing movies.

The drive-in has a chance to win a digital projector and the public can help by voting for it at projectdrivein.com

You can vote once a day through Sunday.

Upgrading to digital projection costs roughly $80,000.
