Iowa’s unemployment rate is up slightly, while Iowa’s labor force reached its highest level for the year in August.
Iowa Workforce Development says the rate edged up to 4.9-percent last month from July’s rate of 4.8-percent.
“Encouraged by the upward trend in total employment for the year, more Iowans are entering the labor force,” says IWD’s Teresa Wahlert. “Iowa’s labor force reached its highest level for the year in August 1,655,300.”
The total number of working Iowans was up by 1,100 in August and 27,000 more than it was one year ago.
