Last night storms left a swath of damage across Polk County and the surrounding areas with over 30,000 people without power, and numerous reports of major tree and/or roof damage. 1.2″ of rain fell in Johnston and 1.06″ at the airport in Des Moines.
Today high pressure will dominate our weather bringing clear skies and quiet conditions. This afternoon highs will stay mainly in the 60s, with a few low 70s. Winds will be breezy and out of the north. This weekend will stay quiet with temperatures in the 70s and dry conditions. Monday a few showers are possible in western Iowa.
