SELF DEFENSE: Ankeny Offering Class For Women

The Ankeny Police Department will offer a women’s self-defense course starting in October.

The four-part class is a part of the Rape Aggression Defense System, the largest self-defense network in the country.

Instructors will teach about awareness, prevention, risk reduction and physical defense techniques.  Students will be able to test their abilities at the end of the course with a simulated attack.

The self-defense class will be held at the Ankeny Police Headquarters and is $30 to register. The classes are intended for women 14-years-old and older.

The Ankeny RAD courses will be on October 14, 15, 21, and 22nd from 6 until 9 p.m.   You can register through the Ankeny Police Department or online.
