This week there is no House request to go to conference on the food stamp and farm-only bills.
House Speaker John Boehner said last week that when the Senate agrees to a conference the House will appoint its conferees. A procedural motion is needed to combine the nutrition and farm-only bill.
After that, it is expected that the Senate will vote against the current nutrition bill. Then both the House and the Senate will appoint conferees. However, all that is unlikely to happen very quickly. And with the farm bill extension coming to a close at midnight on Monday, Congress doesn’t have much time.
