Transporting crops has just been made a little easier.

Governor Branstad signed a proclamation that allows vehicles transporting soybeans, corn, hay, straw, silage, and stover to be overweight without a permit.

Effective Friday, the loads cannot go over 90,00 pounds gross weight and this proclamation only lasts until November 26th.

The governor says he hopes this will help farmers after challenging weather conditions this summer.

The Iowa DOT is directed to monitor the operation of this proclamation.
