The University of Iowa Hawkeyes kicked off Saturday’s game against the University of Minnesota Gophers just after 2:30 p.m. The Hawkeyes are facing off against the Gophers at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
With minutes left in the first quarter, Iowa is the first team to the scoreboard. The Hawkeyes lead the Gophers through the rest of the first quarter 3-0.
The Hawkeyes take a stronger lead against the Gophers, scoring again with a touchdown. With seven minutes left in the second quarter, Iowa continues their lead against Minnesota 10-0.
But Iowa had a little more energy in them. With just minutes left before halftime, the Hawkeyes run the ball into the end zone for another touchdown. At halftime, the Hawkeyes had solidified their lead against the Gophers with a score of 17-0.
With five minutes left in the third quarter, the Hawkeyes were at it again. Iowa scored another touchdown against the Gophers. The Hawkeyes lead the game 20-0.
Just minutes later, the Gophers decided it was their turn to get on the scoreboard. With three minutes left in the third quarter, Minnesota scored a touchdown. The Hawkeyes are still leading the Gophers 20-7.
Early in the fourth quarter, Iowa snags a field goal for an extra three points. That was where the score stayed for the rest of the game. The Hawkeyes took home the win, the bragging rights and the trophy for the rivalry game against Minnesota.
The final score from the Hawkeye win was 23-7.
