Officials in Davenport are trying to find the cause for why a boat flipped on the Mississippi River this weekend.

The boating accident happened in LeClaire around 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Emergency crews responded to the scene but other boaters helped the three people in the overturned boat safely out of the water.

“This is the outcome we always hope for.  This river can be a very, very dangerous situation and these individuals who were on the boat today were extremely lucky,” said LeClaire Fire Department Chief Mark Slagle.

The boat was still mostly underwater when crews moved it to the dock.
