GOVERNMENT VEHICLES: DOT Recalls 3,200 Plates
Hundreds of government workers are losing their confidential status.
The Iowa DOT says it plans to recall 3,200 license plates issued to local, state and federal workers.
The license plates were meant to increase safety but they have also allowed users to avoid traffic tickets issued by red light and speed cameras.
Once the license plates are returned, agencies will have to justify why they are needed before the plate is reissued.
