Iowa State Football Coach Paul Rhoads had a strong reaction to the Cyclones loss against the Texas Longhorns. He was especially fired up about a fumble, or the play he thought should have been ruled a fumble, when a Cyclone defender ended up with the football after taking it away from a Longhorn running mate. But the officials ruled it wasn’t a fumble.
An exciting and hard-fought game between the Cyclones and the Longhorns on Thursday night came down to the last minute. With the Cyclones leading the Longhorns 30-24, Texas scored the game winning touchdown in the final minute of the game.
The Longhorns won the game 31-30.
After the game, Coach Rhoads ranted about how much pride he had in his team after the game they played.
“For them to make a play on the one-yard line with their backs against the wall, clear to everybody, and then have it taken away from them…that’s hard to express,” Rhoads shouted after the game.
“You don’t just put your arm around the guy and tell him that it’s okay when that happens to him. I’m so proud of the effort my kids gave to win this football game tonight,” Rhoads said.
