The American Red Cross has volunteers in northwest Iowa to help citizens recover from Friday night’s destructive tornadoes.

In addition to providing food and water for the tornado victims, the Red Cross is continuing to assess the damage from the tornado and help those impacted by the tornadoes get back on their feet.

For those cleaning-up the damage left by the tornado’s path, the Red Cross recommends taking lots of pictures for insurance purposes, avoiding unnecessary risks from unsafe or unstable buildings, keeping a close eye on pets as they may be disoriented and confused from the damage and of course, staying away from anything that seems harmful or dangerous.

If you or someone you know in northwest Iowa needs help, you can contact the Red Cross at 712-252-4081 or toll-free at 800-340-4081.

If you would like to help the disaster victims through volunteering or by making a donation, you can do so by visiting their website here or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.
