Three Ankeny area businesses are expanding and the city is helping them do it.

The city council approved three development agreements Monday to offer property tax rebates for a set term.

John Deere will add a $15-million office building on its existing campus.

The tax breaks will also help LGI  with a $4-million office building expansion while Northstar Power will build a $5.2-million office, manufacturing and warehouse facility.

Ankeny officials say the three projects will add over 250 jobs.

“What’s nice about these three projects is they represent companies that have grown here, companies that have moved here, and multinational firms that have a presence here in Ankeny and it really speaks volumes about how attractive Ankeny is to employers,” economic development director, Derek Lord explains.

Two of the three projects will begin construction this fall.
