COLLEGE DEBT: Iowa Ranks Sixth In Nation
Iowa’s college students will need some financial smarts to pay back their college loans.
According to new data compiled by College InSight, Iowa’s college students have one of the highest debt levels in the country. The organization makes information on college affordability, diversity, and student success easy to find and navigate.
Iowa college students are also number one when it comes to taking out student loans. Nearly three-quarters of all Iowa college students borrow money to pay for school. Those students end up owing about $29,000.
Iowa`s three public universities have fought to keep tuition prices in check over the past year. The first tuition freeze in three decades took effect this fall.
