Des Moines police are investigating a case involving several cashed checks that bounced at Hy-Vee stores across the metro.

The checks total more than $7,500 and were from two businesses with the same authorized signer. Police say the checks were drawn on business accounts that came back closed.

The businesses listed on the checks are United Transportation, LLC and Puma Expedite, LLC. Both have the address of 5242 NE 16th Street.

The Hy-Vee loss prevention officer that reported the bounced checks says because it takes a few days for checks to clear the system, there could be more bad checks that have been cashed.

Investigators plan to review surveillance video from the stores where the checks were cashed to help find the person responsible.
