The State Fire Marshal Division is investigating whether a fire that destroyed a flower shop in western Iowa in September was the work of an arsonist.

The fire was reported around 3:29 p.m. September 26th at 413 Walker Street in Woodbine. Officials say the fire destroyed Ellen’s Flower Shop and caused structural damage to an adjacent building and smoke and water damage to a few other buildings on Walker Street.

Investigators say the fire may have been intentionally set at the west wall of the flower shop, which runs along an alley. A white male was observed in the alley a few minutes before the fire was first discovered.
