The Freedom Rock Project is stretching all the way to the Mississippi River.

Artist Ray “Bubba” Sorensen transforms rocks into patriotic works of art that honor those who serve in the military. He started on a 60-ton rock in Adair County but Sorenson is now making sure each of Iowa’s 99 counties has one.

He’s calling it the Freedom Rock Tour. The latest location announced is LeClaire in Scott County.

The Freedom Rock will go up near an existing tribute to fallen soldiers.

With so many paintings to do it will be a few years before the LeClaire rock is done.
