An Iowa National Guard flood relief mission in Colorado was cut short due to the government shutdown.

Nine soldiers from Boone and Waterloo were called up for a two week mission. The medevac team included pilots, crew chiefs and aircraft fuelers.

The team finished its first week of work and then returned home for a break.

The second week, which was to run through Thursday, was canceled due to the federal government’s lack of budgeted funds.
