A metro organization is working to fill the bellies of our four legged friends.

Leaders of the Pet Project Midwest cut the ribbon at the new pet food pantry facility located in the 4900 block of Franklin, Thursday.

The organization provides pet food to families in need of assistance.

Leaders say the new larger facility couldn’t have come at a better time.

“It’s a wonder space,” says Joe Nolte. “We have room for events and a lot more food storage, which is great because we fed a record 736 animals in July and helped keep 288 families together with our services.”

The organization also operates, which helps owners find their lost pets.
