A groundbreaking date for a road project that has long been in the planning stages has finally been set.
The city of Waukee has announced a groundbreaking date for the new Alice’s Road Corridor. The ceremony will be held Friday, November 1st at 10:45 a.m.
The interchange will give drivers in the suburbs west of Des Moines easier access to Interstate 80.
City officials are excited about the development opportunities ahead for the area.
The project was delayed for several months over the summer because a study had to be completed about whether construction would harm the habitat of an endangered bat found nearby. The Federal Highway Administration has signed off on the project after examining the study.
