The state is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its friendship with China.

Nearly 200 delegates from People’s Republic are visiting Iowa to celebrate. Most of the representatives have been in Muscatine since Sunday where China’s current president, Xi Jinping, visited back in 1985 to learn about agriculture.

Jinping returned to Muscatine and Des Moines in 2012.

Some of the Chinese officials will visit Drake University, Tuesday. The university has a special program that sends graduates to live and work in China for a year.
