CANCER FREE: Mercy Unveils Survivors’ Wall
Mercy Hospital in Des Moines has a new display at its cancer center encouraging patients who are fighting for their lives.
On Monday, they unveiled a survivors’ wall. It shares the stories of six cancer survivors who beat the disease thanks to the care of Mercy doctors.
Among them, Jennifer Taylor and Pam Woll-Hunter who met while they were each undergoing chemotherapy.
The women supported each other through radiation, side-by-side. Now, they’re featured on the survivors’ wall, side-by-side.
“I just wanted to reach out to her and let her know it wasn’t all terrible,” Woll-Hunter said. “Chemo isn’t a picnic but it wasn’t terrible either and it was just really nice to establish that friendship and help support each other.”
Both women are now cancer-free and have become close friends outside of radiation.
