A group of Iowa Falls firefighters is being honored by the state for saving a life.

Members of the department will receive the Sullivan Brothers Award of Valor.

At the end of June, Arick Baker fell through an air pocket while emptying an 80,000 bushel bin of corn.

It took fire fighters five hours to relieve the 900 pounds of pressure on his chest.

Baker was able to walk away from the accident with only minor injuries.

The department used a recently purchased corn bin rescue device to pull Baker out safely.

The award will be presented by Governor Branstad on November 5th.
