MEDICAID OVERBILLING: Initiative Saves State $72m
Governor Branstad says an initiative he started is saving Iowans millions of dollars in Medicaid spending.
The Iowa Medicaid Initiative was started three years ago. The state hired a private company to search out cases of Medicaid overbilling.
In the three years the program has been running, $86-million in possible over-spending has been stopped.
The state has paid $14-million for the service bringing the net savings to $72-million.
